Starting a new baby class can feel a little daunting—especially if you're unfamiliar with sensory play, baby massage, or baby yoga. At Babies and Buddies, we know how important it is to feel comfortable, reassured, and welcomed when stepping into a new space. Our small, intimate sessions are designed to be gentle, engaging, and deeply supportive, ensuring both you and your baby enjoy every moment together.
This guide will walk you through what to expect from your first class, easing any worries and helping you step into a warm, inclusive environment where you’ll feel valued, empowered, and confident.
A Welcoming Start – What Happens When You Arrive
The moment you walk into one of our four welcoming centres, you’ll be greeted with a friendly smile and a relaxed atmosphere. We create a calm, inviting space where you can take a breath, settle in, and focus on bonding with your little one.
Our classes are deliberately kept small (with a maximum of 15 participants) to maintain a personal and supportive environment—ensuring that you never feel overwhelmed or lost in a crowd.
Before starting, we take a few moments to introduce ourselves, help parents feel at ease, and explain the session structure, activities, and key benefits. There’s no pressure to have a perfectly settled baby—each class is designed to be flexible, adapting to your little one’s cues and needs.
What You’ll Experience in the Class
Each Babies and Buddies session is rooted in connection, development, and inclusivity, carefully crafted to nurture secure attachment and support early learning. Whether it's baby massage, baby yoga, or sensory play, the activities are designed to:
👐 Strengthen the Parent-Baby Bond – Through gentle touch, movement, and engagement, you’ll connect with your baby on a deeper level, building trust and emotional security.
🌱 Encourage Development & Relaxation – Our sessions introduce gentle techniques that support muscle strength, sensory awareness, and emotional regulation, helping your baby feel calm and engaged.
💛 Create a Social & Supportive Space – You’ll meet like-minded parents, share experiences, and feel uplifted in a judgment-free environment where you can be yourself.
Each class features guided activities tailored to your baby’s developmental stage—whether it’s soothing strokes in baby massage, fun, playful stretches in baby yoga, or interactive textures and sounds in sensory play.
One of our core values is inclusivity, which means our classes are adaptable and welcoming to all families. Whether your baby is alert, unsettled, or peacefully snoozing, we support each parent individually, ensuring everyone leaves feeling empowered and reassured.
Addressing Common Worries
It’s completely normal to feel a little uncertain before your first class! Here are some of the most common concerns parents have—and how Babies and Buddies helps ease them:
🍼 “What if my baby cries the whole time?” – That’s absolutely okay! Babies communicate through cries, and we embrace their natural rhythms. If your baby needs to be comforted, fed, or held, you’re free to do whatever feels right. We are baby-led!
💛 “I’m new to baby massage/yoga/sensory play—will I get it right?” – These sessions are not about perfection. They are gentle, guided experiences where you’ll learn simple, effective techniques in a relaxed, pressure-free way.
🌿 “Will I feel out of place if I don’t know anyone?” – Not at all! Many parents come to our classes seeking connection and support, and we foster a warm, community feel where making friends happens naturally.
✨ “I have concerns about my baby’s development. Can these classes help?” – Absolutely! We tailor our sessions to support each baby’s unique needs, ensuring that every parent feels confident and informed about their little one’s growth.
Why Connection & Sensory Play Matter
Many professionals highlight the importance of sensory engagement and secure attachment in early development.
Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk, a research scientist specializing in infant attachment, states:
“The first months of life set the foundation for emotional security and resilience. Babies thrive when they feel connected and understood by their caregivers.”
Similarly, the UK’s National Childbirth Trust (NCT) emphasizes the benefits of baby massage:
“Regular touch and massage stimulate the production of oxytocin—the love hormone—which promotes bonding, relaxation, and trust between parent and baby.”
At Babies and Buddies, we integrate these findings into our approach, ensuring every class is built on scientifically-backed principles of bonding, development, and emotional well-being.
